| Join the Coalition
The Coalition for Public Legal Services (CPLS) is a group of public interest and advocacy organizations fighting for legal aid in British Columbia and ensuring that every resident is able to access justice. We are always looking for more organizations to join our cause and for individuals wanting to lend their expertise and talents with our efforts.
Joining as an individual
We are more than happy for you to join as an individual. Members who are unaffiliated or independent from advocacy organizations include lawyers, paralegals, program coordinators, non-profit and legal advocates, and individuals interested in access to justice.
If you are looking for a way to get involved with the Coalition, the best way is to join our Facebook Group No BC residents should have their access to justice denied. We regularly post ways to get involved with CPLS on there like rallies, petitions, and other events.
If you would like to get heavily involved in the Coalition, we invite you to contact us to join our listserv which provides numerous opportunities to get involved through campaigns, research, event planning, and other projects. The listserv is used as a tool to communicate as a group and brainstorm ways to evolve and grow CPLS and we are always looking for new ideas.
Joining as an organization
Our coalition is based on the help of our member organizations to share resources and ideas to promote the value or legal aid to British Columbians. We are always looking for organizations to contribute to CPLS as members.
Organization members include unions, professional associations, advocacy groups, and other non-profit organizations.
We invite you to get in touch with us for more information on what is involved as a member organization.
Your membership and involvement
Both individual and organization members communicate regularly through a Google Group listserv.
CPLS holds regular meetings as a group. Members are asked to attend in-person if they are in the Lower Mainland and via conference call or Skype if they are in other areas of BC.
Our Coalition is organized into sub-committees focusing on media and public relations, Canadian Bar Asssociation liasing, litigation strategies, research, government liasing, lobbying, and events. Members are able to volunteer their skills to any number of committees and to bring ideas for new ones to the coalition at large.
No matter what your talents or interests may be, we have opportunities for you to utilize and grow your skills while promoting access to justice.
How to join
Contact our ListServ Administrator and we will add you to our listserv! If you are looking for ways to become a friend of CPLS, join our Facebook Group to receive notices of ways to show your support and connect with others concerned with legal aid cuts in BC.
